Parish News January 3, 2010

Flowers for January 3, 2010:

One altar vase in memory of his parents, Sonny & Kathleen Brown given by Gene Brown. One altar vase in honor of Rosie Bolchoz for her dedicated service to St. Matthew’s given by Debby & John Beahm.

Congratulations to Tonya & Josh Turner, whose daughter Elexis Faye Turner is being baptized today. Elexis will receive the following gifts as a reminder of this special day: a medallion from Thrivent Financial, a banner from the Women of ELCA, a candle and a napkin.

If you are interested in placing flowers in the Sanctuary in January, please contact Joan Holling (795-4676). There is an opening for two vases on January 31.

Part of the Doscher Collection of the Holy Family is on display in the Fellowship Room.

Event for high school youth this evening, January 3. Come to church at 5:00 pm for dinner and a fun kickoff to our spring semester! All students grade 9-12 welcome.

Women’s Bible Study will not meet during the month of January. They will be studying the book of Romans beginning February 2, 10:00 am for coffee and 10;30 for the study in the Fellowship Room.

Please note: Ministry Leadership – Reports for the Annual Report are due in the Parish Secretary’s office no later than January 15th. If you have any questions, call Debarah at 723-1611, Ext. 16.

Several concerns have been expressed about a photo of St. Matthew’s that is being run in the Moultrie News. The office knows the information on the signage in the inset photo is incorrect and we have tried to have it updated without success, sending the Moultrie News an updated, correct photo of the signage outside the church. The actual graphic setup is done in Asheville, NC and the person who does that has requested that St. Matthew’s members stop emailing him and the owner of the paper about this matter. The page in question is supposed to be featuring only churches that are located in Mt. Pleasant. As, St. Matthew’s is not located in Mt. Pleasant – it is likely the photo and other information will be dropped altogether.
