Altar Flowers
for September 27, 2009. One altar vase has been given in memory of Gertrude Tanner by Rick & Myra Maull. One altar vase has been given in memory of Lloyd Miner by Karen, Frank, Jerry, Sammy, Jane Miner and Richard Miner.

If you desire prayer for any reason, our Prayer Partners will receive you in the Chapel after you have communed.

We would like to thank Donna Kidd and Meredith for organizing and putting on a wonderful picnic at James island County Park. Take time to tell Donna “thank you.” Thanks to all the cooks and servers as well.

XYZ Game Night is tomorrow, September 28, at 7:00pm.

The schedule for Bishop’s Day, Tuesday, September 29th, is: Dinner at 5:15-6:15pm; Lay Dialogue at 6:15-7:15pm and Worship at 7:30pm.

First Communion Instruction: Classes will meet Sundays, October 4, 11 & 18, 12:30 – 2:00 PM with lunch. Families are invited for the meal and childcare will be provided for siblings during the class time. Please indicate on today’s Sunday Record how many plan to attend the meal/ class/ childcare next week. If you have questions about considering First Communion Instruction please talk to Pastor Wallace. First Communion Celebration with banner procession will be on Reformation Sunday, October 25, at 11:00 Worship.

    We Care for Our Troops

    Care Kits - We’re collecting items for the Care Kits which will be assembled October 21, 7pm. A list of needed items is by the Donation Box in the Education Hallway.
    Prayer Wall - Please add names, addresses and pictures of anyone you know who is serving in the military to the Prayer Wall on the first floor of the Education Building by the elevator. Sondra Pfaehler and John Burbage are team leaders.
    The Mother’s Lounge is available to use anytime.
    The Respite Care Library next to the Fellowship Room in the Education Building has a rocking chair and privacy screen. A changing table is located at the back of the stage.
    Shepherd Ministry: The purpose of St. Matthew’s Shepherd Ministry is to create, maintain and sustain loving and caring relationships within the life of our church family. If anyone in the congregation has not been contacted by their Shepherd, please call the Shepherd Leader, Janelle Othersen.

    Sign up in the Education Hallway for your home visit and to be “In the Spotlight.”

    The Bi-Annual Lay School of Religion will be held at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary for those interested in the study of theological issues from leading seminary faculty and staff.  The school meets four times during the month of October (6, 13, 20, 27), with a catered dinner available prior to each session. Dinner 6:00 (advance registration required by September 30), Devotions 6:45, Classes 7:00 – 8:30. Registration information is available in the Education Hallway.
