ALL SAINTS SUNDAY—NOVERMBER 2, 2008
This morning's setting of the Liturgy is by Gabriel Fauré
(1845-1924). It was composed in 1887 and
first sung in 1888 when Fauré was choirmaster at the Church
of the Madeleine in Paris. In this very beautiful liturgy,
St. Matthew's each year celebrates the lives of all the
saints of this community of faith who have died in the Lord
since last All Saints Sunday. At the time of the prayers,
each name will be spoken and a bell rung.
Special
musical events like this morning's services are made
possible in large part by the Suhrstedt Family Music Fund.
Contributions are always appreciated.
