Today
, March 21, 2010 marks the 325 birthday of the great
Lutheran composer Johann Sebastian Bach.
In celebration of that
event, St. Matthew’s welcomes the Chamber Choir of Furman
University in Greenville, South Carolina. All of the
instrumental prelude selections are by Bach as well as the
choral selection “Dona Nobis Pacem” after the Communion. In
addition, all three of the congregational hymns were
harmonized by Bach.

Christina Carivou, Joanne Cauley, Garrison Carpenter, Fran

Katherine Hay, Blake Hudson, Sam Hunter, Brittany Johnson,
Caleb Lewis, Mary Katherine Monday, Thomas Middleton, Derek
Pittman, Jacquelyn Stucker, Stephen Stacks, Knox
Sutterfield, David Weigel and Caitlin Whalin.
High school youth meet tonight at 4:40 pm at St. Matthew's
auditorium.
We will walk to Cathedral of St. Luke
and St. Paul on Coming Street for dinner and Bible study
with the youth of the Cathedral and Second Presbyterian
Church. We will return to St. Matthew's at 7:00 pm where
parents can pick youth up on Vanderhorst Street. All youth
grades 9-12 are welcome
XYZ
Card & Game Night will be held tomorrow, March 22, at
7:00 PM in the Auditorium. All adults 55 and over are
invited to attend.
The
partnership between Thrivent for Lutherans, the Lutheran
Congregations in the Low Country and Habitat for Humanity
have set out to build another home for a family in need of
adequate housing. Volunteers are needed for each
Saturday in March and April. Please contact Pastor Dick
Campbell to sign up and to receive contact information.
Ladies of St. Matthew’s: Please join us for an important
dialogue, “A Significant Moment in my Life,” as part of the

Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit Respite Care
Ministries will be
held tomorrow, Monday, March 22, at The Club, Seabrook
Island.
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Franke will be held on Saturday, March 27 at
2:00 PM. Come and enjoy refreshments and a visit from the
Easter Bunny herself!
The
South Carolina Women of ELCA will hold its Trident
Conference spring
meeting at All Saint’s Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant, on
Saturday, March 27, 2010. All Lutheran women are encouraged
and invited to attend. A nursery will be available. Please

The
Men’s Church League Softball will begin practicing after Easter. If
you are at least 16 by July 31 and are interested in
playing, please contact Michael Black.
We will need extra help Easter Sunday morning to carry all
the banners of the church year in procession. There

eleven banners to process and men and women are needed
to help carry them at the beginning of each

World Hunger and Disaster Appeal is the emphasis for Lenten
devotions at home. The money from the coin boxes will be
sent to the
ELCA Disaster Appeal for
Haiti Earthquake Relief. Calendars and boxes are available in
the Education Hallway. Please return your Lenten offering
box on Easter morning.
